How much is human life? Someone will say, that it is priceless - and will be right. Do you know, that you can save a priceless human life absolutely free? Just voluntarily committing one simple act? Often the price of human life is in one donation of blood.

Who needs blood donation?? There are several categories of people, who need donated blood.

There are people, who need blood products in line for life. it, primarily, hemophilia patients. If coagulation factors are enough, and the patient receives adequate supportive therapy since childhood, then he is no different from an ordinary person and leads the life of an ordinary person. And without coagulation factors, the life of such patients is simply impossible.

Cancer patients need donated blood. Modern cancer treatment involves killing tumor cells.. Together with tumor cells, normal blood formation stops for some time.. It was during this period that the patient needed supportive therapy with donor blood components, in particular, platelets, which there is no replacement, and in the near future, even theoretically not expected.

Donor blood is needed for patients with surgical pathology. These are people, requiring joint prosthetics, cardiac surgery patients. Surgery associated with vascular injury, tissues, with the need to restore lost blood components.

Blood transfusions are often required for women during childbirth.. Blood loss always threatens a certain number of women in childbirth, which also needs to be properly compensated in order, to save the life of mother and baby.

World Donor Day Campaign 2020 year is dedicated to the topic "Safe blood saves lives" and is held under the slogan "Donate blood in the name of a healthy world". The focus of the campaign will be the personal contribution of each donor to protecting the health of those around them.. Blood donation required worldwide, since it provides access for individual patients and the population as a whole to safe and high-quality blood and its products as in ordinary life, so during times of emergency. As part of this campaign, we urge people around the world to save lives, donating blood voluntarily and regularly. Moreover, World Blood Donor Day and its chosen theme is an occasion to call on governments, national health authorities and national blood transfusion services allocate sufficient resources, build systems and infrastructure, necessary to increase blood volume, donated by voluntary donors; provide quality medical services to donors; expand the proper use of blood in clinics; and create systems for monitoring and monitoring all stages of the blood transfusion chain.

AT 2020 the year the campaign has the following goals:

– mark merit and thank donors, and also call on those, who has not donated blood yet, become donors;

– raise awareness of the urgent need to increase the availability of safe blood in all cases, when it is needed to save lives;

– Demonstrate the need for universal access to safe blood transfusion and advocate for the importance of safe blood transfusion to provide effective health services and achieve universal health coverage;

– enlist the support of governments and development partners at the national, regional and global levels, in order to ensure investment in national blood programs, increase their effectiveness and ensure their sustainability.

Your participation and support will help expand the impact of World Blood Donor Day. 2020 of the year, achieve greater recognition, that blood donation is an act of solidarity, life saving, and safe blood and blood supply services are an essential element of all health systems.

International organizations, including, in particular, World Health Organization, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Federation of Blood Donor Organizations and International Blood Transfusion Society, continue to work closely, guiding and supporting the activities of its members.
