28 July - World Hepatitis Prevention Day

Viral hepatitis is an infectious disease, caused by viruses, affecting the liver and general toxic manifestations. Most studied - A, AT, FROM, Well, D. The end result could be a full recovery., and development cirrhosis, baked crayfish and death. This disease is one of the serious global social and medical problems of our time..

Regardless of the form of the disease, viral hepatitis has similar general symptoms:

– nausea, vomit, belching, bitterness in the mouth, loss of appetite;

– general malaise (flu-like condition);

pain in the right hypochondrium (long-term, paroxysmal, aching, stupid, radiating to the right shoulder blade or shoulder);

– yellowing of the skin and mucous membranes (anicteric forms of hepatitis also occur);

darkening of urine, discoloration of feces;

– itchy skin.

The source of infection is a person with an acute or chronic disease. The most dangerous are patients with asymptomatic diseases and chronic carriers of the virus. In the chronic course of the disease, the patient can be a source of infection for life..

Virus isolation with various biological secretions (blood, sperm, saliva, urine, bile, tears, breast milk) determines the multiplicity of ways of transmission of infection. However, only blood, sperm and, perhaps, saliva is a real epidemiological danger, since in other liquids the concentration of the virus is very low.

Infection can occur:

– when using non-sterile medical (syringes, catheters, needles) and cosmetic tools (when applying tattoos, piercing, manicure and pedicure);

– with direct ingestion of blood into the body through wounds, ulcers, mucous membranes;

– when using shared toothbrushes, razors, washcloths, towels;

– with unprotected sexual intercourse;

– from an infected mother to her baby during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding;

– intravenous injection of drugs with syringes, contaminated with infected blood.

Hepatitis A and E viruses are transmitted by the fecal-oral and food routes and enter the body of a healthy person with contaminated food and water., through household items, toys, arms.
