24 MARTHA – WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY

World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated by the decision of the World Health Organization (VOZ) annually 24 Martha – in a day, when in 1882 year German microbiologist Robert Koch announced his discovery of the causative agent of tuberculosis. AT 1993 year by the World Health Organization, tuberculosis has been declared a national disaster, and day 24 Martha – World Tuberculosis Day.

Tuberculosis – infection, airborne. And without proper treatment, a person, a patient with active tuberculosis, can infect on average annually 10-15 human. Currently, tuberculosis takes lives every year 1,6 million people, most of which – residents of developing countries.

The main cause of the development of tuberculosis is the Koch microbacterium., which, after penetration into the human body, may not manifest itself for a long time. The activation of the bacteria occurs then, when a person's immune system does not have enough resources to destroy a pathogen. Tuberculosis is not a highly contagious disease, but as modern research has shown, 1 bacillicide is capable of infecting about 15 human. It is important to note, what gets infected with tuberculosis, does not mean they get sick. It all depends on the state of the human immune system., concomitant diseases, as well as lifestyle. There are several predisposing factors for the development of tuberculosis.:

  • drug use;
  • smoking;
  • alcohol abuse;
  • predisposition to diseases of the respiratory system;
  • diabetes;
  • improper nutrition;
  • frequent depression and stress;
  • internal chronic diseases;
  • unfavorable living conditions.

Based on the above factors, we can conclude, that they are all in one way or another associated with a violation and decrease in immunity.

Clinical signs of tuberculosis do not appear immediately, but only then, when the pathogen has entered the bloodstream or has invaded most of the lungs. Symptoms of tuberculosis are mild at first, but as the disease progresses, they become more pronounced. The main signs of tuberculosis in the acute period are the following symptoms:

  • coughing up phlegm, which lasts more than 3 weeks;
  • blood in sputum;
  • temperature rise to small numbers;
  • weight loss;
  • increased fatigue;
  • lack of appetite;
  • mood swings;
  • increased irritability;
  • decreased performance

Tuberculosis cough is usually moist and frequent, especially in the morning. People, who smoke, such a cough is perceived as a "smoker's cough", but don't be overconfident. With the manifestation of at least 1 – 2 symptoms of tuberculosis, it is better to consult a doctor and make sure, that you are not sick with this ailment.

In cases, when tuberculosis develops more aggressively, the following symptoms may be present:

  • increase in body temperature to 38-39 ° C;
  • chest pain;
  • shoulder pain;
  • painful, dry and hard cough;
  • sweating while sleeping.

The above symptoms may also be present with other diseases., so no need to worry prematurely, it is better to seek help from a doctor, which after examining the patient, the collected anamnesis will be able to diagnose and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Symbol of the Day of the fight against tuberculosis – white chamomile, as a symbol of healthy breathing.

Thanks to the anti-tuberculosis work carried out in our country in recent years, it has been possible to reduce the growth of morbidity and mortality from tuberculosis.. And yet they continue to remain at a high level., there is an increase in the incidence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and tuberculosis, combined with HIV infection. Therefore, work in this direction is carried out constantly..

Tuberculosis is curable, and work in this direction is ongoing, but, according to WHO, not enough effort is currently being made to detect, treating and curing each patient. Of 9 million people, annually sick with tuberculosis, 3 million patients are not being treated. Therefore, the goal of World TB Day is to, primarily, raising awareness among the world's population about the global epidemic of this disease and efforts to eradicate it, on methods of prevention and control.
