Malaria is a disease, caused by blood parasites, that are transmitted from a sick person to a healthy person through the bites of mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles.

Mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles (malaria mosquitoes) widespread throughout the world, they are also found in Belarus. Mosquitoes themselves do not contain malaria pathogens.. To become an infected mosquito, he must drink the blood of a person with malaria.

With the development of tourism, an increasing number of Belarusians travel to malaria-disadvantaged regions and are annually registered in Belarus 10 cases of imported malaria.

The malaria clinic is very diverse.. Its most characteristic signs are febrile seizures with short-term chills, high temperature, headaches and muscle aches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, heart palpitations, urinary retention - a similar condition lasts 6-8 hours and ends with a sharp drop in temperature (to 35-35,60FROM) and profuse sweating; attacks are repeated through 1-2 of the day, but can continue without temperature changes; with untimely treatment, the patient has an enlarged liver and spleen.

The diagnosis is established based on the results of a laboratory study of the blood products of a febrile patient and the same study confirms his recovery after treatment.

Malaria Prevention 2 directions: infection prevention and disease prevention.

Infection prevention malaria includes the protection of the premises against the penetration of carriers (window shading) and protection from their bites (installation of bedside gauze canopies, killing mosquitoes with insecticides using fumigators; outdoor – treatment of open areas of the body with repellent drugs - repellents), creation of unfavorable conditions for the breeding and reproduction of malaria mosquitoes – sanitary-hydraulic, агротехнические, reclamation activities.

Disease prevention. Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, carrying out tour operator and travel agent activities, when organizing a trip to a disadvantaged region for malaria, should instruct in recommended preventive measures for the country visited.

If you have planned a trip to a place, where are malaria cases, consult your doctor about a month before.
