7 April – World Health Day 2024: “My health is my right”

Date of creation of the World Health Organization (VOZ) counts 7 April 1948 of the year, when the organization's charter was signed. And starting from 1950 World Health Day appeared on the same date, allowing questions to be raised annually, that affect all of humanity and directly affect our lives. This is our health and longevity.

Every year, World Health Day is held under a certain slogan and has a clear theme.. That topic is touched upon, which is the most problematic, requiring intervention and control at the moment.

AT 2024 World Health Day is celebrated under the slogan “My health is my right”, which allows us to remember the importance of mental and physical health, as well as the need for its timely prevention.

This holiday is important for everyone, who cares about their well-being, healthy body and strong spirit.

WHO named constant physical activity as the main and most important component of health.. And it should not be confused with physical exercise., which are only one of the points in this direction.

Physical activity refers to any physical movement, requiring muscle contraction and energy expenditure.

Insufficient physical activity is one of the causes of many non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, heart diseases. It is the fourth leading cause of global mortality.

Physical activity includes any type of movement, be it walking, dancing, games, sports. No wonder they say: "Movement is life".

Nutrition is also related to this important point.. Indeed, currently the percentage of obesity among people is as high as in childhood, and mature age is extremely large, which also affects the quality of health.

Regarding nutrition, WHO recommendations are as follows:.

  • Maintain proper energy metabolism and a healthy weight.
  • Switch from consuming saturated fats to unsaturated fats (fish, flax seeds, nuts, sesame and linseed oil, etc.).
  • Eliminate trans fatty acids from your diet.
  • Increase the percentage of fruit and vegetable consumption, legumes, nuts and whole grains.
  • Limit your sugar and salt intake. And also ensure salt iodization.

Thus, compliance with WHO recommendations, regular medical examination, Being physically active and getting enough sleep will help you live a long, healthy life.*
